Animals and wildlife are a fantastic theme to work with. Over the years I have produced paintings using different media techniques and surfaces.

When I was at school I wanted to be a teacher. I was so excited when it was suggested I go to Art School and even more when I was accepted for Art Foundation at Middlesex Poly (Hornsey) in 1974. I loved it and learnt a great deal about painting in particular. Having said this I am still learning and developing my skills and processes. Studying Graphic Design and Illustration at St Martin’s School of Art reinforced my love for painting and I realised I didn’t want to pursue a career in Graphics. I qualified as an Art teacher in 1980 and had a very enjoyable, fulfilling, if challenging, 37 years of teaching Art and Design to years 7- 13. Here I developed many media techniques and processes plus a good knowledge of Art History. I thoroughly enjoyed helping young people to find their creativity and gain confidence in themselves. Throughout this time I continued to paint, mainly still life, using watercolour and gouache; still my go to medium.I am developing my skills using acrylic on cardboard, and canvas, applying textures with found objects. These surfaces allow me to create exciting layered effects that I find fascinating. My work is always bold, bright and textured with high contrast, focusing on light and shade on the object.
